I was torn between heading down the road and staying one more day for the festival. I was told it would be a rare opportunity to view the ethnic local people and hear their traditional music. And so I opted to stay. I dont know if I already mentioned it but there are a few hostels in town and the easiest to findis across from the 711. Think it is Dulan 101.
Since I had been invited to stay at a small guesthouse called ROSE just on the west side of the town up a hill I decided to go for it. I rode to the south end of the town and I believe to took the last right just before the gas station. For about 10 minutes I cycled sllllllllllllooooowww uphill and came to a small sign that said rose. I followed it to a smaller road and sign again saying Rose. It led me to a beautiful gated estate with a few buildings. It was just 500 and I had my own room and also my own kitchen if I wanted to use it.
Although she spoke no English, so our conversation was limited, she wanted to show me something on her phone. Shel got a message from a friend who sells ice cream down the road and he told her about an American woman he met. Hahaha and there was a photo of he and ice at the tourist site.
Festival was amazing, I will try to post a few videos for you to decide. At 9pm it was quite a fun ride back up to the hotel. Oh, and when you are in town be sure to visit the Sugar Factory. It is not longer a sugar factory, it is now an artist colony with shops and a place for weekend music.
Most of the day was happily spent at the Amis music fest.
